Handle by the edges

Wash and dry your hands before sorting. Hold cards by the edges and avoid sliding a stack across a table. A clean work surface, soft playmat and indirect light reduce the chance of scratches while you verify card numbers and finishes.

Use consistent storage

Choose sleeves that fit without forcing the card, and use binder pages that do not press hard against the surface. Store binders upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Boxes should not be overfilled; pressure can catch corners during removal.

Record condition honestly

If you see whitening, dents or surface marks, use the condition field and a private note. Do not use a glossy finish as evidence that a card is near mint. Accurate records protect your future trade conversations and make it easier to separate a display copy from a playable copy without repeated inspection.
